Dauphin

Dec. 3. 1917.

Dear Markle: -

A few days ago I sent you a small parcel and hope it has arrived safely before now. I have often felt like writing to some of you boys, but it kept me busy writing to Fred and my cousins, and I have not quite so much spare time now, as when I was a “country schoolmarm”. Since hearing that you were wounded in the hand, I have not heard what you are doing, but by your address presume that you have not had to return to France. Little we imagined what was a head [sic] of some of us a few years ago when we used to plug away at those books in the old school eh Markle?

It is just seven months since I came to Dauphin and at present I am on night duty. You will understand the situation if you spent some time in the hospital. I hope the war is over before I am through here, but if not perhaps we will meet again across in Old England. Quite a number of the graduate nurses from Dauphin have enlisted

Christmas will be over before you receive this but I hope I will not be too late to at least wish you a very Happy New Year.

With every Sincere wish for your safety and a speedy return I am

Your Old Friend.

Kate
