My Dear Ones at Home

It is now over two weeks since I have received a letter from home, or from any one in fact. I wonder what is the matter with every-one, or with the mails. Argyle gets two or three every night & parcels galore. I did not get either of the parcels from home of candy and eats nor the parcel from Boissevain. A parcel came from Sue Kerr while I was in the hospital, but Argyle not knowing when I would be back, took it and finished it up for me. Another parcel - I do not know which one got as far as the battalion but I was not around when my name was called out, and I could not get any further trace of it. Anything sent from Canada should be packed in a tin box and sewn up securely in canvas.

I came back from the hospital on Thursday, and feel quite all right again. All my equippment which was left in the dug-out was salvaged, that is collected & taken away as belonging to [deleted word “know”] no one. I will have to get a complete new outfit, but have lost my own good shaving out-fit, razor strap and brush which was worth $5.00 and several other things of my own that were in my pack.

There is very little that I can tell you. Army life is going on as usual in the cold & wet. Today there has been quite a snowstorm all day which has left every thing very wet

I sent the money order that you sent me over to Cam to have it cashed. I will be very glad to get the money as I have not had a cent for three weeks. I missed the last pay-day while I was in the hospital although it was only a matter of 15 Francs.

Will say goodnight now. I do hope that there is some mail for me tonight.

Your loving boy
