Some Where in France
May - 17 - 17

Dear Sister, -

I am writing to thank you for the "tuxedo" that you sent me which I appreciate very much because there in nothing like tobacco from the states.

I received a letter from mother at the same time which seemed awfully good after not having a letter for so long. I am now expecting one from you.

Well I should like fine to be back in the U. S. and I think when I do get back that I will be pretty contented to stay but the question is when will I get back but I hope that it will be this year anyway.

There is one thing the Germans seem to have resources that nobody thought possible but we are far superior now and I think that they will have to give in before long because we must be wearing them out very fast at present of course there are lots of them and it takes time but I think we will have them before winter.

I suppose that you are having a pretty good time these days I hope so anyway I see by the papers that they have been giving the French delegation a grand welcome in N.Y.

Well I hope that they get some enthusiasm aroused in Uncle Sams Army because we can sure use some of his army out here but I think when the do come that they will make a good record for themselves.

Well I guess that's about all for now untill I here from you hoping you and all the family are well I will close with lots of love

Your Loving Brother
John

P.S. Lots of love to Louise & I hope she is well. Write Soon
