Dear Sir.

I am writing to thank you very much for your letter wish I received quite safe on the 18th Dec, and I can tell you that I was very glad to hear from you; it has taken it two months to get to me it has followed me all over England. Well I am very glad to tell you that my wounds are getting on fine, but I am not feeling up to much yet but I think after I get a rest I will be alright; but I am sorry to see that you have got my wrong rank, I have been Sergt for about nine months and I hope in a short time I will be an Officer, I have put in for a commission and it has gone through and I am going down to an Officers school after Christmas if all goes well, and I might tell you that I went to France on Sept 15th 1915 as a private and came back on Sept 29 1916 acting Company Srgt Major that is not doing to bad.

What kind of weather are you getting over in Canada we are getting some very nice weather over in England, but I would like to be over in Canada for a short time to see all my friends once more, but I was thinking last Sept that I would never see my home or friends any more, I was down on the Somme and that is where you see what war it but I am glad to say I have done my little bit for King and Country and if I have to go back to France again I will go where duty calls me.

Well I have just had a letter from Miss Marjorie Johnson that is the place where I worked and I can say that I had a good home while I was there.

Well now I think I will close for time is getting short I will write again soon

Well good bye remember me to the Norwood people

I remain

Yours Sincerely

Sgt Kettridge A.C
