Witley Camp

Oct. 26th 1916

Dear Ollie:-

We are in England now and don’t know just how I am going to like it for we have not had any drill yet.  But it rains most of the time and we was inoculated again and was laid off for two days.  We have a mighty good camp here.  Not very muddy at all.  The roads are all crushed stone so we will have good place for marching.  Part of the boys are going on pass tomorrow for six days and the rest of us are going Monday.  We are going to London.  I am not awful fond of going but might as well see the sights as we are over here.  There is a minister here who looks after any one who wants him.  He gets a crowd to go and find rooms (and board) and shows them all over London for $1.50 a day.

Well Ollie, I am feeling fine now.  Was a little sick coming across but nothing to speak of.  We got your cards when we were four or five hundred miles out to sea.  Don’t know anything to write for Jack will tell you all the news that he can for you know we are not allowed to say much.  So will say goodbye for this time.   Write when you can.
