My Dear Doris:-
I was delighted to receive your kind little letter some time ago.
In going thru my letters tonight I noticed that I had not replied to yours, and hasten to remedy the matter.
Yes your scarff was a great comfort but now that spring is coming along nicely – warm things are not much needed.
I am glad to note you love the great out-doors – that your farm – and poultry-yard are progressing favorably – and I am filled with wonder a the extra-ordinary pro portions of your cat – His intelligence, too, is remarkable.
I am pleased to hear you are getting along so nicely at school. and trust that your teacher is again fully recovered and that the school goes merrily on.
Trench life is not so bad as formerly and with the coming of better weather, conditions will be much improved. Soon we hope to be hammering the Germans along the pleasant paths that lead to Berlin.
Tonight the guns are silent and the rain is coming down in sheets – but last night the artillery kept up their din. A continuous stream of shells passed into the german lines.
When the Big Day Comes for the mighty drive – the germans will be pushed with irresistible force back into their own territory. Let us hope it may be soon.
Will you write me again some-time Doris? I shall be highly pleased to hear from you – at any time.
With best wishes
I remain
Yours Sincerely
Percy Willmot
