Dear Mr. McLeod:-

I am very sorry to have to tell you, as you have by now heard officially that your son was killed today on his return to the aerodrome after a show. I need hardly tell you what a great loss he is to all of us, both as a flying officer and in the mess. He was in my Flight and was the pilot I placed most reliance on. He was killed outright which is as well as may be. One of the cheeriest and stoutest, he will long be missed here.

His kit follows through the usual channels. Should there be anything I can do for you in any way please let me know.

With sincerest sympathies to you,
I remain,
Very sincerely,
G. H. H. Baker.
