Dear Mr. Irwin.
Have been waiting for a line from you for 5 or 6 weeks but have not heard from you or Mrs. Buck, cannot understand. I sent you two german shrapnel heads from here, with hopes of your receiving them, but had no word, so wondered if you received them.
I got some good souvenirs last time in three german rifle grenades complete & two shell heads & have sent them to England to a friend for safe keeping, would not send to you until I hear whether you received the others
One grenade had a message in german & is a great souvenir.
Some of our boys went on leave & I sent the goods with them. Am expecting to go myself in a few weeks so must make a collection
Of course it is hard work getting them together as we have to carry all we own & the bare necessities are quite heavy I assure you.
I tried to go & see George Martin who is within a few miles of me, one of my pals saw him. Last one of my section killed-a good fellow- & another hit with a german bomb a few weeks back, hard luck.
Will close with kind regards to all hoping you are well as it leaves me in good trim.
from yours truly
Walter T. Robus.
P.S. Write soon as possible
