Dear Mother: -
When I wrote to you last I was at Mrs. Tylers. I went to visit her when I was on my last leave. I got my leave with the rest of the boys last Monday (a week ago tomorrow). I intended to go and see Frank and Mundi but could not go to Shorncliffe where they are as my pass was not made out to that place and I had to have a voucher to go there which I could not get. We got our railway tickets free and when I got my ticket I told them I wanted to go Shorncliffe as well as to Highbridge. They told me all I had to do was to show my free warrant ticket at the station in London and I could rebook to Shorncliffe. When I got to London I couldn't get a ticket to Shorncliffe. So I just stayed in London until my pass was up and I had to go back to Camp. We have been busy all day today getting ready to go to France on draft. We expected to go tomorrow but we might not go till the day after. But we will be going to France in a few days. It is getting late in the evening and I must go to bed. I will write again to morrow if I have time. I received the money order last night which you sent me.
Good night Dear
Mother - your loving
Son Archie.
I will write as often as I can and will let you know my address in France as soon as I get there.
I am sending you a booklet with pictures of Crowborough
