Dear George
I think I received a letter from you some time ago and I am always pleased to hear from you so write often and let me know how you're getting along at school. I got that photo of you in school it is good so I'm sending it out to Sammy as I may lose it any time. I'm sending you a Christmas card about the only thing I can get here except handkerchiefs but they are for girls. We are in billets again for a few days and I'm feeling fine. I've not got the boxes yet but we will have a feed when they do come. I will try and send mother something in a day or two if I can but I don't know if I can here. I would like to tell you about the war but you know they won't let me so I will have lots to tell you if I get back home and you want to be a good boy look after mother until I come home. So I must close hoping this will find you well. Wishing you a merry Christmas.
From your loving father
