Feb 2/41 England. Dear Mom & Dad: Here it is Sunday again and my weekly note. I received the parcel and two letters, on from Wannie. It was the parcel which contained some gifts from Mrs. Afblet (is that the way to spell it) and a housewife (sewing kit) The parcel was very good, you seem to have a gift for sending the right things at the right time. The Boys often comment on it, they think I am very fortunate. I know it. Even the P&G came in handy. I told Dan that you sent me a housewife. He wanted to know if it was alive. Last week we had a 60 mile route march, only five men in our platoon finished. Dan was one of them. It took three days to complete. Twenty miles a day. On the third day Dan was just as fresh as when he started. Every once in awhile he use to stop the sargent major and ask him to shift the rocks in his pack as that he could balance better. He told him he was carring them for ballast. After a few hours of this the sgt maj jumped in a truck. Dans jokes and energy played on his nerves and broke his determination. I only walked 25 miles before the blisters took over. Then I rode on A.A. duty the remainder. Thank Mrs. Afblet for me. This is all for now. Dan is going to blow the supper to nite Cheers for now Love Boyley
