My Dear Mill

I expect you have heard by this time that poor Georgie was wounded at Vimy Ridge on Easter Monday April 9th. I know you will like to hear from us how he is dear Mill. I am sorry to say it is rather a serious case, the Sister at the Hospital told me on Wednesday that she had written & told you all about him. At present the bullet is still in his spine but they hope to operate on Monday & they cannot really tell until after the operation what serious damage it has done one comfort I can give you & that is he has got the best advice in the land & everything that can be done for him is being done he looks very well indeed & is so bright & cheerful. Muriel I & Grandpa went to see him Wednesday. It is a great big hospital all soldiers of course five flights up & he is at the top our legs do ache by the time we get there. Geo has been several times to see him he calls in any time just for ten minutes or so today he is going & being Saturday he will stay for an hour or two. The Sister in the Ward is so nice she had a chat to me about Georgie & told me he was such a good boy. It is such hard luck for him -only 20- we are all very very sorry indeed dear Mill & he never came home on leave once. Life in England is not very bright now-a -days all over the place you see wounded soldiers & the price of things is terrible we have to go [the remainder of the letter is missing]
