May 20 - All day the Middleton column were busy fixing up camp for a three day stay before moving up the river to Battleford to join the Otter column. Raining most of the day, but tents all up and blankets kept dry. Quartermaster John Clemes left for home today, not feeling well. Quartermaster Sgt. Lou McDougall appointed quartermaster ranking as captain.
