My Dear Wife:

Just a line to let you Know that I am OK. Sent you & the children 5 post cards yesterday from Strathmore. Also sent Buddy & Helen one. There has been snow all the way from Van. We passed several farms on the prairies with the wheat all stooked in the fields. There is a report on the train that we change cars at Winnipeg and go with a battalion from that city. We were kept on the cars from the time we left Van until we got to Calgary. There we had a march out of ½ hour. I miss you more than you think, I also miss the children. At night I just wonder what you all are doing, I hope you & the children are all well. With love & kisses to self & children & a great big hug for you xxxxX

Have just heard that we are going to Shorncliffe instead of Hounslow. They say that word has been received that the Pioneers have been sent to Shorncliffe to allow the new recruits enlisted under Lord Derbys scheme to train at Hounslow By Bye sweetheart. With love & more love W.J J
