My Dear Mother

Thanks awfully for tin of cigarettes that I had the pleasure of receiving the other day. But am sorry to see that I have received no letters lately. However the fags were more welcome than a letter at the time. As we are so far ahead of civizilation at present that we cant buy very much of anything "We cant even get brasso" I also had the pleasure of receiving a lovely parcel from Frank, So we had a snice full of cake & chocolate. We are out on a few days rest at present. And we went for a bath today. But after wandering about for a couple of hours we had to give it up as a bad job "to there were thousands lived after all." Now about that money, I would like about 30, if you could spare it and you can send it on to Dorothy. Payable to Miss. D. Drake.24 Limesford Rd. (Peckham Rye.) London. S.E. 15. She will be able to look after it till I get there. And there wont be any change of me being there befor xmas I don't suppose I received a letter from Iris tonight. However under the circumstances I wont be able to answer for a few days.

Well Ma Ph[?] I must now come to a close. Trusting to hear from you soon. Fondest love to all at home.

I remain
Your loving Son
