We have received our landing leave last Monday morning I am visiting at Uncle John's that is dave father I am leaving to night to go back to Seaford Gib Mckimmell one of the Morgans are here I saw them they were going down to see Billy Martin he was going back to France we will train for another month or so yet we have to have a course of bombing and machine gun training we had our gas training and part of musketry so you see it will take some time yet I would have been on the prairies this spring if things had not turned out as they did but such is fate the treatment we got on a boat worse than rotten the officer com did not care what condition we were in when we landed as long as we reached there all right we were attached by a submarine but it did no damage the destroyer run over and dropped a depth bomb all that came to the surface was oil we never saw any more of it any way

I tell you they certainly drilled us we have finished our squad drill and miniature musketry and and passed the gas test we were put through the gas chambers but we will train for some time yet as we are to have bombing and lewis gun training yet but the war look like a speedy finish now don't take any notice of the British falling back they are saving the men. Billy Martin went back to the front about 3 weeks ago I have seen Gib Mckimmel and one of the Morgans but I think they must have went back again that Mckimmel that used to run the Wilson is over here he is an officer but not of a fighting force. Vincent showed me through the munition factory yesterday some sight believe me. The women working in the factory is simply marvelous working 9 and 10 a day and drawing about $15 a week of course everything is rationed but at the same time Eng. is stocked with Grub and some is spoiling I would not mind if the food controller would visit us in Seaford everyday but he only does it once a month and then you want to see the meal we get no shortage that that day I have seen him tell the orderlies to get some more for a table that he thought was not enough.
