Dear Mother, -

Came up here last thursday and went up in the air for the first time this evening for 20 min. It was first time since leaving France almost six months ago and felt quite pleasant. Will be here for about two months yet.

We are sleeping in tents and past two nights are been chilly and raining but it will be nice in hot weather. Quite a good mess and several fellows I have known before. Two fellows here took the course with at Brooklands over a year ago. One of them I used to chum with.

Reg. Stone is in Toronto we used to meet in England often. There is a boy Moseley here who went to St. Andrews with Reg & Willie also Herb Andrews.

I am able I brought carpet Pillow slips, light robe etc. come in handy while in camp. Oh, passed the exams all right. They sprung them on us suddenly about four days before we expected so felt quite pleased at passing without having to worry about studying.

Glad Reg. passed so well and will do something else besides enlist just now. I'll settle down and try to write some letters - one to Peck Turner. You had a great time with coal oil stone[?]. We have one in the tent and hope it doesn't smoke all our clothes up. Much different from tenting at Niagara on the Lake in '15 but not so good quarters as in France.

I had a nice letter from Mr. Reid. Tried to get to Armour Heights but no use. Have a good instructor here and perhaps will get more sleep and be in better condition up in this camp.

Saw Beattie several times. He has finished flying and has gone to Beamsville to take the Gunnery course then will have leave home before going overseas. George Styles is not thru yet - gets into trouble at different times - out with him twice.

It would be nice to have a car of somekind up here. Will perhaps write Pa about it.

Hope you are all feeling well and in good spirits.
Love to Each one.
Your son
Jim.
