Dear Mrs. Fick,

I am writing on behalf of the above society to offer you our deep sympathy on the death of Pte. W. Fick (no. 237695 21st Canadians) which occurred on May 3rd at the Horton County of London War Hospital - Epsom.

You will have heard that he was suffering from pneumonia following a gunshot wound in the left arm, and the last report which we received from our visitor told us that he was very dangerously ill. I fear the news of his death must have been a terrible shock to you, but I hope you will find some consolation from the fact that he gave his life for his King and Country.

He was in one of our best hospitals where everything possible that could be done for his welfare and comfort was done.
With our sincere sympathy in your sad loss.

Yours very truly
Kathleen Waring
