Dear Mother & Father.
Just a few lines hoping to find you in the best of health as it leaves me at present pleased to say we received your letter safe sorry to hear father [?] so thin working to hard & I guess he is obliged to do it or else there are lots of others to do it if he starts to say anything. Had a letter from Beat & a letter & parcel from Annie this week another good feed of cakes & candies Annie thinks she will be finish hopping some time next week I should like to have been there for the last day. Bet have made a scarf each for us & is going to send them out & we begin to need them it is nice & cold about four oclock in the morning & sentry at night but we get a small drop of rum first thing Had a letter from Ern Box & he said he had his leave for three days & he took extra 1 ½ days & he got five hrs pack drill & five days pay [?] he expects to be out here some time next month. We have had some rotten weather this last week & rain all the time but the old sun had come out again & it is beginning to dry up again now Well Dear Mother & Father tell Dolly I am sorry I did not answer her letter she sent me I will latter on we are sending two cards one for you & one for Lucy I hope Lucy wont mind the word being in French I think this is all I have to say this time so I will close this short letter.
