Dear Mother & Dad
I now find time to write a few lines hoping to find you all in the best of health as i am pleased to say it leaves us both the same, well we had the pleasure of seeing Beaty in Dover on Sunday afternoon she came over from Margate where she is staying for a couple of weeks to see us she told us that dad had met with another mishap you can bet we were sorry to hear that as we had not had a letter from you but pleased to hear he is getting on first rate we trying to get our leave this week as it was turned down last week i think we shall get it alright if we get the inspection over what is coming off by Sam Hughes & Preimer Borden, today is Amy's birthday so if you like you can get something for her as it is awkward to send anything from this side get anything up to 5 dollars what you think best has she gone away to that place as i have not had a letter from her yet, well we were inspected by the G. O. C. yesterday and he said we are going to have Lee Enfield rifle and have another course on the ranges with them so i guess we shall be here another 2 or three weeks if they don't alter it, we started trench digging this afternoon you can bet a pick & shovel came strange after not using them for some time, well i don't think i have any more to say this time hoping Alf is still at work so i will now close to all at home remember me to Herbert & tell May i will write to her this week if i have time, so good night & God bless you all
