Dear Gladys:-
Just arrived in England yesterday & am trying not to loose any time in letting you all know where I am. We left Halifax last Wednesday at 4 o'clock, on the Empress of Britain, & arrived at Liverpool yesterday at 2 o'clock in the afternoon, giving us ten days at sea. We had a fair trip across although I did not enjoy it much as I was sea-sick until were reached the North coast of Ireland on Thursday. We only had one very rough day and that was on Monday. A few were slightly hurt by remaining on deck before we were ordered below. We got into, what appeared to me like a toy train, at Liverpool, at 2 oclock.
Yesterday afternoon & arrived here at 2 o'clock last night. We have a fine spot for a camp, about a mile from a small place called Cheriton & eighty miles from London. We live in long building here, holding about fifty men & I think thy will be much better than the tents. Cliff is in camp about five miles from here & I am going down to see him the first opportunity I get.
How are you getting along at school, suppose you have a nice little city boy by now, at least you will if you go with Nita.
Saw Dave Kerr on my way to town & he is not going to the front as he is medically unfit. Hope this finds you in good health.
Your Loving Brother
Roy
