Dear Mother & All:-
Well Mother hear goes for another epistle (short as usual) although I have not yet received a reply to my former ones, I know you will be wondering where I am etc. Here I am a this forsaken camp called Shoreham & we see the shore alright but never see the huns except on pay day. You will already know by my last letter, from Shorncliffe, that I could not go to France until I am nineteen so they sent all of us kids under eighteen here to drill until we're of age. Cliff & I have got to-gether at last as he said he is under eighteen. Don't think he has cold feet for he hasn't, but we all think of those at home. He has change some & behaves like a real soldier.
I havn't got out to see London yet but expect to soon & before my two years are up, I expect to see a lot of England & Scotland. We have good quarters here & about seven hundred kids in the bunch. Can you imagine the time we have in this bunch & the handling they will take for there's some tuff ones, believe me!
The grass is not dead here yet & the weather is just like fall weather at home. Would like to be home for Xmas but chances are slim but Wish all a Very Merry Xmas & Happy New Year, with closing. Hoping all are well. Same. Your Loving Son.
Roy.
