April. 14/17.

Dear Mother & Dad & All:

Received yours yesterday & the two spot has come in handy as I had to buy a sweater. How is every body? Well, Mother it has come at last. I was warned yesterday that I am on a draft for France. It sure was a surprise to me as I havn't done any drill sine I came over but they will give it to me in France at the least. They transfered me from the Man. Reg. Depot over hear about four days ago. I was working in the Sargeants' Mess up to yesterday when I got the news & we are leaving tomorrow for France. I know a lot of the fellows in the draft so I won't be in a strange bunch. Was issued with new pack & Kitcheners boots. Say, Dad ought to get the contract for making iron soles as these sure are nearly all iron & just like canves but they're the only ones to stand the racket. I will drop you a wizbang every week to let you know how I am making out. Sorry I didn't get to see Mrs. Kemp's people in London as I lost the address, anyway, Mother you know how I dislike going to a strangers place.

Well, Dear Mother & Dad you will here from me soon & its up the line with the best of luck.

Love to you both & all with best wishes.

Your Loving Son

Roy.

My address will be.
