Letter

Sunday 22/18

Dear mother

Tomorrow I hope to get a letter from you, Saturday Evening a convoy arrived here from England.

It is only a few days ago since I wrote to you, but I dare say you dont mind having an extra letter or so, tonight is Sunday Evening, & Fuller & myself are about the only ones at Home, most of the other Boys are out with their Girls on down town. I've not started to run after the Girls at all, I think I said before the dont speak English & I dont speak Dutch, I went for a nice long walk this afternoon, by myself Fuller said he wanted to have a sleep, & Potts the other Boy is in Hospital.

I feel more & more homesick lately, more so than I did in Germany, I think it is because we feel so near & yet it is impossible to complete the journey, the happiest time I had yet during the War, was the time we were in France, we used to have some fine times there, I don't think you could have met a finer lot of fellows anywhere, than the Boys in our lot in France.

I am going to get my Photo taken this week I'll send you one just as soon as I can get one, the last time I had it taken was at folkstone, just before going to France. you said that you had sent a P.O. off, in your Letter I dont know wether you are allowed to do so or not, I think it is a matter of luck, sometimes they are returned to you & at other times they send them on through.

It has just started raining, I never saw such a country for rain.
I should have waited realy until tomorrow to write this Letter, I shall be dissipointed if I don't get at lease one letter, I should realy have lots more because I know you have written them. Tell me all the news about Drayton, & I should be very glad to hear about Uncle Jim, one of your last in Germany said that he was very sick & since then I've got no word of him.

Let me know how Percy Arkinstall is getting along, & tell Mr & Mrs Arkinstall that I send them my regards, & hope that it wont be long before I see them again. I havent seen anything of Heaton lately, he's not been around for a long time, I never go to any of the other Group's;
Sadie must be shure & remember about the snapshots. I should love to have some.

Give my love to Sadie & Emmy & all the Boys

I remain

your loving Son

Tom.
