Dear Mother

I received your letter of the 13/1/17 today. I am very glad to hear that everything is going along all right. We are having very cold Weather here, & have had a lot of Snow. I only wish that I was at Home with you, instead of being here. I will let you know next week about the Parcels, I havent had any at all from England since the 1st week of January, but as they were delayed at xmas that may be the reason, I think that a £1. is too much though, I think that 10/- would be lots.

It is very good of you to send money to them, for me, I am afraid that I am running you into a lot of expenses.

I am busy learning French again now I have a Frenchman teaching me, & I am teaching him English, I go two Hours each day, it helps to pass the time away & it is very useful to know.

I havent seen Billy Cannon yet I've been looking out for him, but I hardly expect that I should know him if I saw him, it is such a long time since I saw him.

Will you send me a couple of day pipes, the ones you sent me when I was just captured it is worn out now, two with bone mouthpieces I am glad that young Evans is staying with you, he would like it, we are always getting in rows here for being in front of the stove. they say because we come from a cold country, we should be able to stand the cold better than the rest. I am getting the Bread that the Red Cross send from Switzerland all right, that is the only thing I have got since the 6th of jan, but I suppose that the others will come soon. give my love to Sadie & the Boys, I hope that it wont be long before Vernon & I can go for a walk after supper.

I hope that Emmy & Joan are both well. I remain your loving Son
Tom
