Dear Mother

Thank you for your letter & the Parcel I got the other day, we are just back into rest camp this morning after doing a tour in the Trenches again, it was 5.30 when we got in, & raining to beat. the Band, it was late when we got relieved & then we had a long march as well, we had a very lucky try, last time, just a very few casualites. we are back for quite a few days this time. It has been raining pretty steady for the last 6 days & is still at it, I wish it would clear up, it makes it very uncomfortable for us. I do hope they dont take Mel or Hughie away it will leave you so short at Home if they do I dont think that any they recruit now will ever have to leave England now, I think a few more months will see the end of the war.

My feet are rather sore this trip they were wet for four or five days & it made them very tender, nothing to worry about though most of the Boys are asleep right now, they were pretty tired this morning when we got in.
I had a nice long letter from maggie yesterday, Helen must be getting a great big girl now, I wish they would come over, so you could see her.

That safty Razor that I bought works fine, much better for me than an ordonary Razor.

Do you remember that tooth I had filled by Firkes a long while ago, well the other day I was eating Army Biscuits, & the stopping fell out, I'm going to the Doctor to see if I can get it fixed again, you know they love dentists out here. Ill like to get Home for a change you get tired of seeing broken down Houses & shell holes, I'd like to see some-thing for a change that hadn't been touched by shell & get some where, away from the sound of the Guns for awhile.

Be shure & send Vernon Taylor's address & I'll try & find him

give my love to Emmy & all at Home

your loving Son

Tommy.
