Dear Rita-

I have been going to write you for the last month but as my last visit to France was of such short diviation I never got settled down enough to write letters.

There were very few of the old timers left but it was quite nice to get back to the old bunch.

Doug Driver was quite fit and was asking after you.

Have lost track of Sav Lanig lately as he is talking a commission in the flying corps.

Should have no trouble in keeping up with my correspondance now as that is all there is to do here but I suppose it will come hard to find news enough to make a decent letter after a [bit?].

I lost all the snaps and pictures I had but have some hopes of having them sent on from the battery.

Did not see Bill Goldsworth after going up the line and I hope he is quite allright.

My wounds are coming on fine and I sleep perfectly every night now, the only bad one is the ankle and it shall take quite a while to get well as there is a fracture there.

Suppose the notice from Ottawa caused a lot of unnecessary worries at home but you can take it from me I am quite satisfied to be safe out of it for some months to come.

Everybody is very kind here and my bed is so comfy.

By Xmas I will be able to go around in one of those invalid chairs with my foot in a [specine?] splint to the knee.

Shall try and write about three letters home each week so as dear mother will not worry.

I am writing this by laying on my side and can get along famously.

They are just about to put the lights out (9pm.)
so will close with love to all.

Brother Bill
