Havre France

Dear Father,

I am leaving this camp for our base to-morrow, and wont likely be there for more than a few days.

Your letter of the 13th arrived today, enclosing a few lines from mother. Am pleased to know the 2 pounds arrived safely. I want to thank you again for sending it but as I believe, I told you in the letter enclosing it. I had more than I needed of my own. The rate on the French franc now is about 28 francs for 20 shillings, so seven francs is just five shillings. You see the rate of exchange changes like the sterling rate in Canada. Glad you cabled to mother about my wounds, as I am sure she would have been anxious if you hadnt. Well I must close for a day or two. This is the ninth letter I have scribbled to-day, so please excuse the shortness. Will write again in a day or two

Your affectionate Son
Goerge

I met young "Woodward" from McCoy lake down in Le Havre a couple of days ago. GMB

Keep on sending a sheet of paper or two and an envelope, as they come in quite handy when there isnt a YMCA near.
