Dear Father

Many thanks for your parcel of cake, tobacco, etc which arrived a couple of days ago.

We are still away from the battn, but we have moved to a different place and have far more comfortable billets. We are in real houses, and every one is fairly comfortable. We even have electric lights. There are about ten of us in this house with a French family, but none of us can speak much French and they cant speak English. We manage to get along alright though. They cant do enough for us, and always treat us very nice. of course we are fed by the Army. will you send some more of that Ankle power. It is very good. I think better than sabadilla, as it isnt injurious to the skin. I wrote a letter to Esther a couple of days ago to answer one she sent me of course I wrote it just the same as if I was writing to mother, so they will know how I am getting along. Well must close now.

Your Affectionate Son
