Dear Ada & Jim,

It seems years since I last heard from you, but I suppose it is my turn to write. I have just had a letter from Mother telling me you were both alright, also the children & that is a great lot.

Well Jim, I see you are getting along fine in the world. I can plainly see you will beat Eddison yet, that's the stuff to get em old boy.

Well my dears I am very pleased to tell you my old wound is coming fine. Another six months I will be OK for the work, but believe me I'm going to squeeze a pension out of them, even if it is only ten dollars a month. I am not going to tell any of these Horse Doctors we have here, that it is improving. No not me, they certainly have had a good four years out of me, all the same I'm feeling none the worse for it, only my D_ _ _ memory has very much gone. I think anybody's would where they have been to that H_ _ _ Hole. It's a god send it's finished. The people have no idea what the boys went through, everybody is fed up with it.

I suppose Mother told you Joe is in Germany now. They are close to a place called Cologne. It will be some time yet before they go back home, three months anyhow. As for myself I think it will be sometime around March or April, so when you answer this, send it home.

Well I think this is all for now. Trusting these few lines will find you both & the children in the very best of health. I am enclosing a snap which I had taken two weeks ago. Cheerio... wishing you a prosperous new year.

Fond Love
