Dear Dad:
Down here for the day finding out about my heavy kit that I had sent up from Yeovilton. Made the trip in my Hurricane in less time than it takes to tell about it.
Quite a change to come down to civilization again, if even for a day.
Edinburgh is much the same as peace time except of course it is filled with military. Meet quite a few air gunners, observers, etc. who have been trained in Calgary and who are now over here in operational squadrons.
Did I tell you that I had a letter from Cranwell from Keith the Australian?
Probably going abroad very soon, so expect a letter from almost anywhere.
Would prefer Miami or New York! Ha Ha.
Jean must be growing into an absolute whiz? - Hope she got that subject in Sups.
Have a grand bunch in outfit but they all have to be blooded except for two. Still, they look the types.
Barney, my Winnipeg pupil, got torpedoed on the way out to the Mediterranean, but I hear that he was not likely picked up - I sincerely hope so.
Hope business is good and that you are feeling fit.
I have recently written to Uncle Ross - what a grand place to live, eh? Ripley, the beach, and also close to Toronto.
Was the garden a success this year? And how about the sunflowers.
Sorry I won't be back to help put up the storm windows this year.
Love to all the family
Love
Bill
