Dear Mother:

How is everyone at home? Went calling last night and met a Wing Commander Breezie, R.C.A.F., who knew Max back at Dartmouth. We were talking about Canada and another W/C asked me if I had spent any time in Canada, so I had to let slip that I had lived there for twenty years. The big trouble is that I have spent too much time over here!

There is an amazing number of sheep on the island here, but I haven't seen any of those ponies so far.

"Stop for a moment." If I don't come through, remember the £400 gratuity owing to me. Of course it is all null and void if I'm not alive. But I think you could get expenses back, etc. for sending me to England, etc. and for living in London while waiting to join. Do your best in any case.

Ronny must be great fun - hope he likes school. How did Jean do in the "Sup?"
Glad to hear that George Hare is going Air Force. If he's an arm owner he could look after my eight guns for me!

The Air Force boys think its funny to see naval officers flying aircraft from aerodromes ashore. Unfortunately "Their Lordships" insist on us wearing our blue rig and white shirts and collars even while flying. You can imagine our laundry bills. (Perhaps)

All my old contemporaries in 41 are now squadron leaders except one who is now a wing commander. I slipped up changing over on that racket but this is far more interesting. We get the jobs but not the rank.

Love to all the family
