ROYAL NAVAL AIR STATION
YEOVILTON, SOMERSET.
February 14, 1941
Dear Mother:
Received a letter from you today - saying that my parcel arrived on the 30th of December.
Sorry to hear about the good work of all the boys who live on 13th Avenue - that's exactly the spirit we want to win this war.
Why did Ronny have his tooth out? I'm still waiting for some of those cigarettes - hope they arrive soon. How long is Dad spending on the coast? Where did the binder twine come from to sell in any case?
If I receive any more letters from home addressed to me without D.S.C. after my name I shall refuse to answer them. We Martyn's are snobbish! So Lieut. (A) W.H. Martyn D.S.C. R.N. from now on or else.
Forget about this marrying business until I get a well-paid, permanent, safe job - no chain and anchor for me if I can help it for some time - unless you know some wealthy girl!
Best of love
Bill
