Dear Mother:

Arrived here last night about 7P.M. Was up at 4 AM yesterday and left Codford at 6 AM daybreak. It rained steady all day but the roads were not affected much. if they kept away from the sides. Quite a number were stuck on the way and they generally held up all the rest. Started with 21 lorries met about 40 more on the way and there are now over 100 here. We may be sent from here to join the batteries but do not know for sure yet. Anyway expect it to be over in about 2 days time. Enjoyed the trip very much in spite of the weather. Passed through a number of small towns and were well supplied with apples all the way by people who would throw them at us while passing. Went through Salisbury, Romsey, Botley, Eastleigh and a number of other places.

Will drop a line from time to time.

Love to all
Rob
