My Dear Sister:

I wrote you last on the 2nd so have not much news since then.

Returned yesterday after doing 48 hrs on guard on about 40 barges on the River Meuse near Namur. It was a good job and a change to what it is around here. Most of the boats have German goods on board and they are not allowed to have any without permission.

Father's letter is interesting and he certainly gives all the news.

You are having a hard time getting away on pass but probably you are away now and anyway I trust you have a pleasant time. It is a place noted as a pleasure resort.

The first of the Canadian troops from France sailed from Liverpool a few days ago and expect to reach Halifax tomorrow. They were two battalions of the 3rd Division who went across to England a couple of weeks ago. The First Division are now moving across, and we are supposed to follow them which will likely mean 2 or 3 weeks time. The London papers showed photos of them going aboard the boat at Liverpool and they got a great send off.
