Dear Mother:

Wrote you last on March 3rd so this will only be a note. Returned yesterday after doing a 48 hour guard on about 40 barges near Namur. It was an easy guard and a pleasant change, as it is tiresome around here all the time.

The weather is quite mild, and it has been raining almost every day. The River Meuse is over its banks at the present time, but so far has not done any damage.

Understand our battery is to be split up in France and divided according to the district we are to be demobilized in. Do not expect it will delay our departure much. According to present rumours we should be out of France in 2 or 3 weeks unless the Railwaymen strike in England, which would be liable to hold us back.

Received a letter from Eliz a couple of days ago, and she had not yet gone on leave. She enclosed a letter Father wrote her about Jan 30th.

Enclose a book of views of Namur, and possibly some are the same as I sent you in December.
